Pre Op liquid diet nerves
OK so i am looking forward to 12 days from now when i will be starting my liquid diet for the 2 weeks before surgery. YAY!!!.....not.
I am actually really nervous and i was wondering how it was for all of you out there. Any tricks or tips for me? or maybe something that helped you from wanting to shoot yourself. lol. and i havent even started it yet. i really am just freaking out about all of the temptations and how i will keep myself on track.
But hey its all worth it.

I did have to do a pre-op diet, but it was not a liquid diet. However, with the dietary restrictions I had on the amount of fat and carbs I was allowed to eat, it ended up being highly made up of protein drinks.
It made it easier that I really loved the protein drink I was using. I went through almost an entire canister in those 2 weeks.
I can say, I would have failed miserably if I hadn't had that protein. I tried going without it the first 2-3 days and it was impossible. I was hungry and ended up going above my limits a bit.
Try your best and hardest to get through those first few days. I felt like it got easier once I already had a lot of time committed into it, I didn't want to mess it up. By day 10, I wanted a cheeseburger so bad, I started dreaming about it lol. I even tried arguing with myself that it would matter, and no one would be able to tell. But, I didn't want to mess up 10 days of really hard work. If you're feeling weak, remind yourself (outloud, if necessary) why you're doing this.
I also found it helpful that I completely withdrew myself from everyone. It's kinda lonely like that, but I didn't have to watch other people eat, and I got to drink my protein in peace. I actually ended up getting really pumped up by the time I was almost done. I couldn't wait to see how much weight I'd lost.
I agree with Kayla that you do kind of have to distance yourself from other people eating. At the best of times it is kind of empowering that you are doing this to improve your body. At the worst it is slow torture when a pizza commercial comes on. lol Get your temptation foods out of the house. If my husband wanted a burger he had to eat it at work. Get a good variety of the foods/ liquids you can have. It is hard I know. My diet was 16 days. 3 of which I went to a campout where they had realy good food and everyone stuffed themselves. Just have to trudge through it the best you can. It is worth it.

The first three days are tough...
I tried to avoid all contact with everyone too...
the head hunger is hard....but avoiding watching people consume real food around you makes it easier...
there is no "trick" to it....just remember that you NEED this...and remember how nervous and scared you were before your approval and how screwing that chance up by cheating is just not worth it...
good luck to you!
